Flying V Electric with SPEED 400

The Flying V Electric is the second iteration of my 42" foamie flying wing design. The wing is constructed from lightweight EPP (expanded polypropylene) foam. The EPP can be crushed and will expand back to its original form. The pod is a modified Zagi Z400 canopy. The wing can fly in a small field, has aerobatic capabilities, is quick and maneuverable, and is very durable.

Although the Flying V is similar to my prototype (the Sting Ray), the Flying V design incorporates many improvements over the prototype:

• "A" frame spar system allows high-G manouvers. Outside loops and pullouts from high speed dives can be performed without flutter.
• The Z400 pod allows simpler construction and better battery and motor cooling.
• Pod modifications prevent battery ejection and allow better 8 cell battery fit.
• Longer root chord and lower wing loading provide better thermalling and slightly more "float".
• Slightly greater sweep tightens loops and turns.
• Built-in washout prevents tips stalls, even at bank angles of 70 degrees.
• 2mm Coroplast winglets provide better durability.

  I designed this "next generation" wing to surpass the performance of the Z400 and provide Zagi pilots with a more challenging, more rewarding aircraft.
